Upon arriving in China you are almost certain to have an incredible amount of things you wanna see, do and experience. In case you haven’t yet planned out what these are yet, here are 10 to get you started.
Learn Chinese
Ok then no surprises for this first one, and yes almost half of our articles seem to mention and promote learning mandarin at some point. But you are in the perfect environment and can gain so much from learning it. No excuses, get practising!
Eat delicious food
China has no shortage of diverse cuisine. From the delicious, well known friend noodle and spicy chicken dishes to the less enticing scorpions on a stick and dog meat noodles. There certainly is no shortage of different dishes to try and if you ate in a different restaurant every evening for a year you probably still wouldn’t have tried every type of dish this nation has to offer- but that doesn’t mean you cant try!
Party for free
If you are not into partying then please by all means breeze past this one. However for those that are then the free club entry and drinks in the clubs enable you to party in some pretty awesome clubs absolutely free. Where else can you drink in a busy club, party all night and not spend a penny? For as long as this lasts its an awesome opportunity.
Celebrate traditional Chinese festivals
China has a beautiful rich culture and living there will enable you to experience the annual festivals from a first person perspective. So why not get involved and embrace it? Spray each other in paint come Christmas eve, eat Zongzi (sticky rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo) for dragon boat festival and eat moon cakes for the lunar festival. Also lets not forget noodles and dumplings for Chinese new year.
Spend the day BBQ’ing
BBQing in China is a rather social affair and in many places you can hire a room or villa somewhere peaceful and quiet with a BBQ. You then go to the local market, buy fresh food and beer and spend the day cooking food and playing games. A lovely way to spend a summers day.
Go crazy at KTV
The Asian phenomenon of Karaoke or KTV as its known in China is contagious. Completely irrespective of whether you can sing or not, when you are with friends in a crowded Karaoke room singing your favourite songs in or out of tune can be great fun. A must do before you leave China.
Enjoy your free time
We may moan about being busy, but with many of us taking less than 20 hours per week in class, Teaching English in China provides us with a wealth of free time, we would be crazy to waste it!
Go out a lot

Vacation around Asia
Living in China provides you with a new base in which to quickly, easily and affordably fly to a vast range of exciting new destinations in surrounding countries. From Korea to Japan to Vietnam to Indonesia there are no shortages of new places to visit.
